Community Diagnostic Centres programme wins at Royal Town Planning Institute Awards
Bidwells and the Norfolk and Waveney Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) Programme won an award at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence ceremony.
Bidwells provided planning consultancy services for the three CDC projects at James Paget University Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn and NNUH, with the collective Norfolk and Waveney Community Diagnostic Centres Programme picking up the Excellence in Planning for Health and Wellbeing award in London on 27 November.
Now in their 48th year, the RTPI Awards celebrate the very best in planning across the UK and globally. In awarding Bidwells and the CDC Programme this accolade, the Judges said: “This is an impressive example of how a planning strategy can provide high-quality essential medical facilities. The project demonstrates good planning practice and collaborative working between the planning consultancy and all three local planning authorities. The results are three very good, high-quality medical facilities that will benefit the community in years to come.”
The Community Diagnostic Centres opened at the three acute hospitals in Norfolk and Waveney over the past 18 months, following the investment of £85.9 million by the Department of Health and Social Care. Through successful collaboration across NHS partners, the CDCs are delivering state-of-the-art diagnostics closer to home, with net-zero design principles and community resilience at their core.
James Alflatt, Partner at Bidwells, said: “It was an absolute privilege for our planning team to support the CDC Programme, and work alongside all those involved in delivering such life changing medical facilities across the three acute hospitals. This national recognition is a huge achievement and reflects the extraordinary collaboration, creativity and commitment behind the programme
Julia Kazimierczak, Head of Major Projects at NNUH and Senior Responsible Officer for the Norfolk and Waveney Community Diagnostic Centres Programme, said: “On behalf of the three hospitals and teams that supported bringing the vision of our Community Diagnostic Centres to life, I am delighted that Bidwells and the programme have received this prestigious award.”
“I wish to thank our partners Bidwells who were instrumental in liaising with our local authority planning colleagues and helping deliver this programme at pace. Our centres are now providing vital, additional diagnostic services to patients across the whole of Norfolk and Waveney because of this collaborative approach.”
